— OUR POINTS of UNITY —

We value building relationships, and approach our work with respect for all anti-racist people and ideas.

Our lens is through a critical power analysis.

We believe in the participation of parents, guardians, students, educators and community in decision making.

We believe that school communities can be their own “Solutionaries” to a broad array of issues as long as they are steadfast in utilizing the principles of Human Rights.

We believe in democracy & use human rights perspectives and practices to challenge racism, sexism, classism, homophobia, and all forms of oppression.

We recognize that gentrification demands a new approach to the topic of “local control,” and we are committed to changing the old and very propagandized narrative about the past ills of community control of neighborhood schools. We believe that elected school boards are at the foundation of democracy and they can work well here just as they do in other cities all across this nation.
