— No More Keep & Tweek —

We are a newly formed, Black-led Coalition of grassroots, NYC activists who have been engaged in the struggle for education excellence and equity for a long time. (Scroll down to meet us!)

Our efforts are built on a foundation of human rights and our aim is to create a unity movement across the 5 boroughs with an understanding of the dire need to completely change the governance structure of our schools.

NYC students can no longer afford the toll on their futures from legislators who want to “keep-but-tweek” mayoral control again. No measure of reform will ever make this terrible system work for a million+ diverse students.

In Unity, there is Strength.

- Muba Yarofulani, Parent Activist

We are actively organizing a mosaic of inter-racial parents, activist educators and concerned community members who are willing to work together and envision a brand new kind of governance structure that works for teachers, students, parents and our great city.

Together, as a Coalition of members from all neighborhoods, backgrounds and experiences, our work is to review the 2014 draft of the proposed, human rights legislation with fresh eyes, innovative, post-pandemic ideas, and a positive surge of progressive lobbying energy.

We can and must deliver a human rights plan for governing public education in this new era. Are you with us?

We believe the community is wise with institutional memory, and as long-time education and social justice activists, we’re always interested in meeting new people and hearing innovative ideas and novel approaches to organizing.

We want to grow this Coalition with you into a mass movement of radical parent leaders, educators, activists, and community groups.

We’re pleased to meet and be in solidarity with you. Please reach out to us!

The Coalition's co-founders are grateful to the following NYC groups for their commitment to human rights and democracy in education:

The Mothers’ Agenda NY (The MANY),

Independent Commission On Public Education (iCOPE),

The Youth Researchers for A New Education System (YRNES)

S.E.E.D.S. Inc. (Seedswork: Service, Education, Economic Development & Science)

Special thanks to: The Coalition for Public Education / Coalición por la Educación Pública (CPE/CPE)

For over a decade, CPE continues to provide city-wide parent organizing and leadership training.

CPE’s work creating the draft & human rights legislation for school governance was a labor of community love for NYC’s public school children.
